How to Backup Samsung Galaxy S3 Stock Firmware and Restore it

So you want to update your Samsung Galaxy S3 to latest available firmware ? That’s pretty cool, you can check our detailed step by step guide on it also. But before you go for installing any unofficial, third party or Custom ROM on Galaxy S3 it is always recommended to make a complete backup of your stock Firmware files and data.

The main reason behind backing up stock firmware is when you go for upgrading your S3, for say your going to install Cyanogenmod 10.2 on Galaxy S3 then you need to wipe your data / factory reset your phone, which will delete all your data and system files from S3. Thus if you keep a backup then after upgrading if some how you don’t like the update & want to go back with Stock Firmwares then you can easily do that with 1 click.

How to Backup Samsung Galaxy S3 Stock Firmware

1) Turn off your S3.

2) Remove battery & reconnect it.

3) Press Press & Hold Home + Volume Up + Power buttons for few secs to boot into S3 cwm recovery mode.

4) Now use volume keys to navigate to backup and restore option & select it with power button.

5) On the very next screen choose backup option & select it.

Now you have to wait, there is no estimated waiting time. It depends on how much data you have in your phone. So it may take 15 minute or more than 30 minutes to complete the backup.

You can watch the backup progression from the same screen. So when it’s over, select reboot system now option and your phone will restart. (may take 10 to 15 minute.)

So that’s it, you have successfully created a Samsung Galaxy S3 Backup, your backup will saved on your SD card/clockworkmod/backup folder. Now you can go for any kind of ROM installation with being worried. In future if you want to restore your old backup then follow our bellow restoration process.

How to Restore Samsung Galaxy S3 Backup

1) Turn off your S3.

2) Remove battery & reconnect it.

3) Press Press & Hold Home + Volume Up + Power buttons for few secs to boot into S3 cwm recovery mode.

4) Now use volume keys to navigate to backup and restore option & select it with power button.

5) This time select advance restore option, a list of all the backup you have created will be displayed. Choose & select the one you want to restore.

That’s it, your restoration is over. You got back your all new Galaxy S3.
